I visited Malawi back in 2017, and nothing could have prepared me for this unforgettable experience. Part of my time was spent at Open Arms Orphanage, where I was able to support the ‘mothers’ with their care routines. Here I witnessed how, with the help of donations, the people of Malawi can help vulnerable babies develop into strong, robust toddlers. I also spent some time working at Mango Tree Nursery.
As a nursery worker myself, it was wonderful to see a community pulling together to provide education to their youngest residents. The nursery was built from straw hut with a gravel floor. But with the help of Changing Stars they now have safe classrooms, educational resources, and fully functioning toilets. Malawi is such a wonderful place; the people are so happy and keen to help each other.
They are also unbelievably grateful of the help they receive from Changing Stars.
I witnessed, first hand, the changes that are made to people’s lives, and that in turn changed mine.
