Our Work So Far

In summer 2019, I got the chance to go out to Malawi with Charlie, Lesley, Mattie and Stacey and work alongside the projects that Changing Stars support. I had the most amazing time in the two weeks I was over there. It was such a life changing experience that I can’t recommend enough. Before the trip, I didn’t really know what to expect. I thought it might be a little daunting but I’ve never felt more comfortable, every person that we came into contact with was so warm and welcoming and really put me at ease instantly.
Throughout our time in Malawi, we supported a number of projects, each one bringing such a brilliant experience and it’s impossible to pick just one favorite. One of my most memorable moments was our visit to BEIT Hospital. We visited a children’s ward and handed out handmade teddies to each of them. (Some of the handmade toys were made by my Granny ❤️ so it meant even more to me.) The children were so happy to receive a toy of their own, it was so clear how genuinely overjoyed and grateful they all were, such a pleasure to see.
During our time at Cape Maclear, which is the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in my life, we spent each morning in The Mango Tree Nursery. Working in the nursery was such a pleasure. I loved each moment with the children and staff. I’ve never met a group of children who are so willing to learn. They all come running into the nursery each day with huge smiles on their faces and the smiles don’t stop! The whole teaching team is fab, I learnt so much from them and was in absolute awe of them all. They really do all they can to make a difference to the children each day. After just a few days at the nursery, the children began to recognise and remember us, some would run straight over for cuddles in the morning, it was so so sweet and warmed our hearts!
All in all, my trip to Malawi was the best experience of my entire life, I can’t even describe how much of an amazing time I had. I will always continue to support Changing Stars as a charity as I’ve seen first hand what a huge difference to many peoples lives it makes. I can’t wait to get back out to Malawi again!
