Their first students graduated in July 2016 and they have continued to grow opening a nursery on site in 2022. They also run media classes, a maize mill and shop to try and make the project sustainable.
Kev Troughton is a key figure in this work and works hard on partnerships to bring innovative ideas such as solar lighting for the school or compost toilets to increase the quality of life and bring new ideas into the community. One particular focus is Chimbota’s work promoting girls' education, and bringing young mothers back into school.

Like many secondary schools in Malawi, a big challenge that the Chimbota Secondary School faces is the funding of further education or university fees. As you grow older within the Malawian school system, the more expensive education becomes which often leaves pupils left with no options after secondary school.
We support Chimbota with a monthly donation to their school and we help out with specific needs where we can. For example, we gave a classroom set of laptops for their ICT suite when they were donated to us.
We also share good practice where we can as different charities here in Malawi can learn from each other by collaboration.

If you would like to sponsor a child then please check out our shop section where you can choose to sponsor a child’s education for the year.
